St Herbert's Nursery - A Very Good Start

St Herbert's Nursery - A Very Good Start

Our nursery is part of our Early Years unit, taking children from 3 years old and serving the community of Keswick and its surrounding area. We offer flexible morning and afternoon sessions allowing you to choose part-time or full-time care to suit your needs. We currently have 26 morning and 26 afternoon places within our nursery.

We believe nursery should be a fun, spontaneous, and inspiring place, where children’s natural curiosity and creativity are nurtured and developed. We adopt a play-based approach to learning with 'continuous provision' of a range of activities, both indoors and outside, to allow children to develop their intellectual, practical and social skills and follow their interests both independently and collaboratively.

Please see menu to the left to find out more about us or Contact Us if you have any questions that aren't answered here or to arrange a visit. Click on the banner above if you are ready to apply for a place at St Herbert's Nursery.

Wrap Around Care (7.45am To 6pm)

We work closely with Keswick Out of School Club (KOOSC) based at the Children's Centre next door to our school. KOOSC provides a Breakfast Club, After School Club and Holiday Club which means that jointly we are able to offer 7.45 am to 6 pm care for your child, all year round, at a very reasonable cost.

Children are escorted by staff the very short distance between Breakfast Club and St Herbert's at the start of the day and then back again to After School Club at the end of the day or after any after school activities they may attend at St Herbert's.

Free Early Years Provision

All 3 and 4 year olds in England are entitled to 15 hours per week of free early years provision. This covers 5 sessions per week during term time in our nursery.

From September 2017, working families are eligible for 30 hours of free childcare per week (subject to working circumstances). This covers a full time place in the nursery class during term time. If applying for more than 15 hours of free nursery provision per week for your child, we will require your HMRC eligibility code and your National insurance number with your application. For further information, or to apply for an eligibility code from HMRC, please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

If you are not eligible for 30 hours of free childcare but require more than 15 hours of nursery provision per week for your child, regular additional sessions can be provided at a cost of £12 per session (invoiced on a half-termly basis).
